Cottars 1920s Camp is perfect if you’re looking for an authentic safari experience in Kenya – or if you’re about to embark on your very first safari holiday! The word Kenya evokes ideas if of fierce big cats, trumpeting elephants, rolling African plains, silhouettes of enormous baobab trees and enormous, glowing red suns setting over the horizon. This is just the experience you’ll get at Cottars.

Owned and run by Calvin and Louise Cottar, the camp sits in a private conservancy just outside the Masai Mara National Reserve. The conservancy has rich populations of wildlife but fewer visitors, giving guests at Cottars a far more authentic bush experience. Animals in the area include elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, antelope, lion, cheetah and zebra to name a few. You can enjoy game drives both during the day and the night, bush walks, cultural visits to nearby village, river swimming and fishing. The camp also has its own wellbeing area where you can swim in the pool and take spa treatments and massages.

There are six tents, a honeymoon tent and four additional family tented suites for larger groups. Each has been decorated with a real colonial feel, harking back to the first days of safaris.
