Is Africa worth a visit?

Posted on October 22, 2021 at 6:13 am

Africa is a diverse continent and has a lot to offer. There really is something for everyone to do and see. It has some beautiful scenery and amazing animals that can be seen from a number of different locations within Africa. There really is an abundance of things to see and do such as discover the hidden tombs in Egypt, go on an African safari adventure in Kenya or visit Table Mountain in cape town.

Unfortunately, in parts of Africa crimes rates are high. You do need to be careful and think about your security before you go and whilst you are there. Try not to wear expensive jewellery or carry valuables like mobile phones or large cameras as this could make you more likely to become a target.

It is good to be able to try the local cuisine, but you do need to be careful that you do not get ill. Make sure you do not drink any of the tap water and also try to only eat at popular, well established restaurants.

The cost of the holiday soon adds up when you consider flights and accommodation, but some things are worth every penny – and the experience of Africa is one of them. A safari holiday is a truly amazing once in a lifetime experience and will blow your mind. It doesn’t compare to anything else and the memories will stay with you forever.

Getting the most out of your holiday in Greece

Posted on July 24, 2020 at 10:28 am

If you want to try a more relaxing holiday than you may have when on safari, a holiday to the Greek islands is an amazing choice to make as the islands have so much to offer. Whether your idea of heaven is relaxing on a near deserted beach or partying into the night with new-found friends Greece is the place to be.

Travelling to the main Greek islands from the UK could not be easier as most UK airports have routes there in the summer months whilst London airports operate flights throughout the year.

When you arrive on the island of your choice there are amazing hotels or self-catering apartments and villas to choose from. It is a good idea to book ahead if you want a specific location or type of accommodation as some areas do get busy during summer however if you are happy to holiday in April or October there is a greater selection.

Although many people like the security of booking an all-inclusive stay it really is not necessary in Greece because there are so many excellent restaurants and bars offering reasonably priced food and drink in all the main holiday resorts it would be a shame to miss out on sampling the delicious, traditional dining on offer.

Safari holidays – going all inclusive

Posted on November 24, 2019 at 9:44 am

If you are thinking of going on a safari holiday this year then you will probably already be aware of the costs involved. Most people oft to go on a safari holiday on an all-inclusive basis as that is what is offered at most resorts. As you may be located away from the main towns etc, it may be hard to eat elsewhere, so by booking an all-inclusive package at least you know you will have your meals every day.

All-inclusive safari holidays usually include breakfast, lunch and dinner plus local brand drinks and alcohol. Some packages all offer supper in the bush or afternoon tea back at your private lodge. Although these types of holidays will cost more than the equivalent self-catering one, you can often save a lot of money on food and drinks by going all inclusive. This is a great idea for a last-minute trip or honeymoon where you may not have a lot to spend as at least you know, even with very little spending money you can still go away and have all your meals / drinks included in the price you have paid.

Can you afford to travel the world?

Posted on July 25, 2019 at 10:15 pm

With the summer holidays upon us many students are taking a well-earned break away from studies and going off to explore the world a little. Often the main issue with traveling is the cost. Not only will you need to fork out for accommodation and flight costs but also food and any other items you may need such as clothes and toiletries.

When looking into going travelling, you do need to have a bit saved up for the initial first few months for accommodation and flights. You may intend on finding work whilst you are away, but if you go to popular traveller destination you may find that there is already a lot of competition for the jobs.

If you do find work you may be able to extend your trip. It may be that you have to do a few different jobs or be prepared to sacrifice a few weekends a month, but you can actually learn a lot more by working in these countries than just going out with the other tourists. So if you really want to experience what these countries have to offer, working there will give you more of an insight.

Wine tasting holidays

Posted on January 31, 2019 at 11:45 am

If you are looking for a holiday that is a little different this year then you may want to look into a wine tasting holiday. These types of holidays can be done all over the world but France is probably the best location and isn’t too far away from the UK.
When choosing a company to do your wine tasting holiday with it is vital that you read plenty of reviews and check what the itinerary is for the trip. You may not want to spend the whole of the holiday wine tasting, so be sure to look for a trip that has multiple activities and is located close to other places you may wish to visit. If you would still like to head down to the beach then make sure that your resort is located near one that has good reviews. The time of year you go can also have a massive impact on the types of activities you can expect to do. If you want to have plenty of sunshine then you will need to book to go during the peak summer months which are similar to that of the UK.
You may want to consider hiring a car whilst you are away for the days when you do not have any activities booked, you have your own transport to allow you to go out and explore the region for yourself.

Bird watching in the Serengeti

Posted on August 26, 2018 at 2:54 pm

If you enjoy a spot of bird watching then why not treat yourself to a holiday to the Serengeti in South Africa. The Serengeti has over 500 species of birds, so you will not be disappointed with the different birds you can see when on this type of safari holiday.

In Seronera area right in the middle of the park, the grey-breasted spurfowl is among the common roadside birds. IF you fancy spotting the flocks of Fischer’s lovebird, then you may need to head towards the forest areas.

If you chose to visit the Serengeti from November through to about April you are mostly likely to see some of the migration habits of many of these species. During this time the local resident species are also nesting, so you can have the opportunity to see how and where they chose to nest. Another place to visit to do a bit of bird spotting (that you may not have considered) is Arusha National Park. It offers a huge variety of habitats that host an unbelievable list of about 400 species within its tiny area.

As with any bird watching holidays, you have to be patient but with such a wide range of birds on offer, you will be sure to have an amazing experience.

A holiday with a difference

Posted on January 31, 2017 at 10:37 pm

If you are looking for something a little different to do for your holiday this year, then why not consider a safari holiday. Safari holidays have become increasingly more popular over the last decade or so and can be enjoyed by pretty much everyone.

If you have children then you may need to spend a little more time researching and find out about locations and camps that would be suitable for a safari holiday and if you are travelling to South Africa, you will need to check about malaria free zones etc.

When people think of a safari holiday then often imagine driving through open lands in a Jeep etc, but there are so many different types of safari holidays that you two safaris are often never the same. You can even go on a biking safari or a sea safari to experience wildlife in a different way.

Safari holidays are often quite expensive, but you can get some fantastic deals often making them no more money than a holiday abroad in another country.

If going on a safari, be sure to read up on luggage allowance on small flights between locations, appropriate clothing and also other equipment that you may want to take with you.

Choosing the right safari holiday

Posted on August 31, 2016 at 4:06 pm

When choosing a safari holiday package there are a few decisions you need to make. Firstly you need to know who you are going to be travelling with. It may be that you are happy going solos or possibly that you have younger children that you wish to bring along with you. A shared safari trip is a great way to meet new people and also to spread the cost, keeping the price down for all. These types of safari holidays are ideal for people travelling solo or in couples that do not mind the company of others.

If however you are traveling as a family or couple and want a more tailored experience then we would strongly advise booking a private safari experience. This way the trip can be aimed at exactly the activities you want to do. The safari can be completed in your own time at your own pace and will give you more space in the car or truck on the safari trips.
